  1. Maggie Marilyn

New Zealand made brand Maggie Marilyn, is on a mission to Create a Better World, working towards a transparent, circular, regenerative and inclusive fashion industry.

Maggie Marilyn centres its sustainability efforts around three core values: People, Planet and Prosperity. Maggie Marilyn publicly discloses information on their first and second-tier suppliers on their website, have made commitments to climate positive solutions and regenerative impact on the environment, and work towards a circular approach to fashion.

2. Reformation

Reformation began by selling vintage clothing out of a small Los Angeles storefront in 2009 before quickly expanding into making their own stuff, with a prime focus on sustainability. Today, they make effortless silhouettes that celebrate the feminine figure and pioneer sustainable practices, focusing on people and progress each step of the way.

FibreTrace® launched to the global market with Reformation in March of this year in a denim capsule collection that traced each pair of jeans from farm to butt. Today, Reformation continue to prioritise transparency across their entire business, working towards adopting FibreTrace® across their entire business.

3. WALD Berlin

WALD Berlin is a fair trade jewellery brand, 100% made in Germany. Founded in 2012 by the stylist and model duo Dana Roski and Joyce Binneboes, it originally started as a bricks and mortar concept store in Berlin Mitte.

WALD Berlin aims for circularity in their designs. All the silver and gold used for their jewellery is recycled and any leftovers from the production are collected and reused in future manufacturing. They also have recently launched their own customer repair service to ensure the longevity and sustainability of their pieces.

Generally, all of their manufacturing is done exclusively in Germany, allowing a transparent production chain. Next, they are aiming to use 100% certified renewable electricity and reduce unnecessary waste.

4. Frankie Collective

Frankie Collective is dedicated to innovating women’s streetwear while setting a standard for sustainability in the fashion industry. Taking inspiration from 90’s staples, they rework vintage garments to push the boundaries of contemporary style.

“We understand the impacts the garment industry has on the environment and make every effort to reduce waste at each step of our production process. Our designs centre salvaging vintage garments that would otherwise end up in a landfill, and all of our textile scraps are recycled and repurposed to eliminate textile waste.”

Production of all reworked garments is kept local in Vancouver, Canada. They employ a skilled team of designers, pattern makers, and seamstresses that are paid a living wage to design, create and rework daily. You can find more information on Frankie Collective’s sustainable practices here.

5. Thousand Fell

A truly circular shoe. Thousand Fell combines thoughtful design with modern and sustainably sourced materials, making them durable, comfortable, and recyclable. Their products are made to be recycled.

Thousand Fell have set up their very own, unique recycling program “Super Circle” so when your shoes are looking a little worse for wear, you can send them back, have them recycled into new shoes, and be rewarded for participating in the circular economy!

“We’re dedicated to push circularity and responsible design mainstream. Our team has more than 5 decades of combined experience at the cutting edge of the footwear industry.”

The shoes are made down the road from sugar cane fields and coffee farms in Franca, Brazil. They are crafted in a small family-owned factory with three decades of high-end shoemaking experience.
